Background and motivation: – I wanted to challenge myself
- – I joined the course to challenge and develop myself, says Johanne.
She explains that the desire to become more confident in a leadership role, understand other people's perspectives better, and improve her communication with the team were the main drivers behind her choice.
- “I wanted to learn more about how I could bring a whole team together at work, while also being able to use the tools privately,” she says. “I was excited about how practical exercises could change the way I meet people. For me, leadership is a lot about understanding what motivates people,” she says.
The course, led by Pål Kleven-Fredriksen , aims to strengthen participants' communication skills and ability to motivate through practical tools and techniques. With a combination of theory, practical exercises and NLP Business Practitioner certification, participants receive concrete tools they can use immediately.
How the course helped: from theory to practice
Through the course, Johanne gained insight into how different communication styles affect the recipient.
- – I became more aware of how I adapt my language to the people I speak to. For example, some people respond best to visual descriptions, while others are more kinesthetic or auditory. It has been an eye-opener, she says.
One of the exercises that made the most impression was changing strategies that are not producing the desired results.
- – Why repeat the same strategy and expect something different? That's silly! Johanne says with a smile.
Results: concrete development – both professionally and personally
Through the course, Johanne gained insight into how different communication styles affect the recipient.
- “My approach to management has changed a lot. When people understand why we do things, not just what we do, engagement increases significantly,” she says.
Personally, Johanne has experienced a mental transformation.
- – I have learned to turn around beliefs that limit me. I have a favorite among all of Pål's quotes from the course; change doesn't have to be demanding or take a long time! You weren't born with bad habits – they can be changed, she says.
She also highlights the principles of NLP as particularly useful:
- – It is powerful to think that everyone has the resources they need to create change, and that there is always a positive intention behind every action. It has made me more patient in the face of challenges, both at work and at home.
Recommendation to others: – don't wait to invest in yourself
When we ask Johanne if she would recommend the course to others, she answers without hesitation:
- – Absolutely. If you want to develop as a leader – and as a person – this course is right up your alley. You will learn to meet people where they are, communicate more clearly, and handle change with a more positive mindset.
She concludes with a piece of advice:
- – Don't wait to invest in yourself. Becoming a better leader starts with becoming aware of how you communicate and react. The course at Considium has given me the tools to do just that.
