Linda Reinhardsen Frisvold is a senior business advisor, and works at Norsk Tipping in Hamar. She has recently attended the course Management without personnel responsibility . This is the second time Linda has participated in a management course held by Vivi-Ann Hilde at Considium.
- A few years ago I signed up for one of Considium's courses, as such an activity was in my development plan. When I recently saw on Linkedin that Vivi-Ann was going to hold a new leadership course, I signed up, because she is a good course leader and because I came back with a dividend last time.
At Norsk Tipping, Linda's role is as a manager for one or more teams of developers, UX designers and testers. Planning and coordination are her responsibilities, in addition to ensuring that they have a high-performing team. In meetings where they are to find potential for improvement and development, Linda must be aware of her leadership role, and how she communicates. It is in the sparring and coaching of employees that Linda particularly benefits from Vivi-Ann Hilde's course.
Vivi-Ann Hilde's course methodology is typically built up with examples and stories, then theory, followed by practical exercises where she observes and provides feedback.

Leadership must be practiced
-
The course is filled with a lot of good theory. Even though some of it is already known, there is great value in the repetition and awareness. Vivi-Ann is a good communicator and is good at using examples with personal stories, which makes the course lively and engaging. The course is pedagogically structured with an alternation between theory and practical exercises. It was very useful to do exercises and apply the theory. It is something to look back on when I coach or plan a difficult conversation.
— Linda R. Frisvold
Some staff conversations can be uncomfortable, as well as necessary. A leadership course with Vivi-Ann Hilde will make you more confident in such dialogues – both the planned conversation and those you may suddenly be exposed to if a colleague comes to you with something. The best solutions are often made without raising the matter up the levels.
- Vivi-Ann is interested in hearing about what it's like where we come from. That's why the course was to some extent formed along the way, based on the participants. It's nice because then the content and exercises are relevant to us and feel real. The breaks are a good opportunity to mingle and exchange experiences.
Talk with your employees, not to them
Coaching leadership involves reflecting together on challenges and solutions, instead of commanding or giving definitive answers. In a team, all individuals work towards a common goal. Constructive criticism means, as in the true sense of the word; to build, via feedback. Employees who feel heard and see opportunities for development become good resources on the way to goals.
- I am in a management role without direct personnel responsibility. It can be a bit of a demanding role to have if there are no clear expectations both upwards and downwards. It is about, among other things, how colleagues relate to my role, what mandate comes with the role, and taking on the role. On the course we talked a lot about taking on the role. It felt supportive and made me feel safer.
- I believe that anyone who works with leading others and is committed to creating results will benefit from leadership courses with Considium and Vivi-Ann. She has an infectious laugh and creates a gentle and light atmosphere on the courses.
